Dinghy Sailing Courses

We run a range of courses to suit everyone looking to lean or improve sailing skills

Adult Level 1/2

The RYA Level 1/2 courses fill up quickly.   The course is a five day course often run over 3 weekends and gives plenty of time for both practical instruction and theory.  No sailing experience is required and those 

Course Duration: 5 Days

Our RYA courses are run to the guidelines specified by the RYA; this includes the instructor pupil ratio, the number of safety boats to number of sailing boats and the content of the course.  Generally we sail in our fleet of Topaz Argos recently acquired, Laser Bahias, and RS Feva.  Once you have completed the RYA Level 2 you can go on to complete other courses to enable you to book and sail club boats.

We always support recent graduates with Follow on Sailing which enables you to rig, and sail in company with experienced support at organised events with full safety cover.

Adult Level 3

Having completed Level 1/2 you are ready to take on Level 3 which enables you to then book club boats and sail yourself or within the Follow on Sailing groups.

After level 3 you can take advanced sailing modules,  that include :

Spinnaker

If you are planning on taking an instructor course you will need at least one advanced module.


Instructor Courses (See dedicated instructor pages)

To qualify as an instructor as either an AI (associate instructor) or DI (dinghy instructor) we run course and can mentor you through the process with one our our Senior Instructors.  Most of our AI and DI staff are home trained and all have employment opportunities at the club especially during Cadet Weeks in August.
