Youth Training (Cadets)

Youth and Cadet training is a major part of our training programme.  Cadet training is run over 3 weeks in August whereas Youth Squad and Young Pirates run throughout the sailing season. Our Youth Squad that will meet regularly through out the year in supervised sessions both afloat and ashore led by a Dinghy Instructor and on occasions by a Race Coach.

Formal Training follows RYA syllabus from level 1-4. You will be formally taught by our RYA sailing instructors during Cadet Weeks culminating with an open week of junior racing, Pelican week.  Some training can be arranged mid week by special arrangement. 

The RYA provides us with strict guidelines on how children should be treated and the measures we as a club should take to ensure their safety and protection. This is complemented by NDYC safeguarding and welfare policies and staff.  For information click here.

2024

Cadet week 1 29th July - 9th August. Stage 1, 2 and 3 courses available.

Cadet week 2 5th August - 9th August. Stage 1, 2 and 3 courses available.

Cadet week 3 19th - 23rd August. Stage 1,2, 3 and 4 courses available.

Pelican week 26th - 30th August 2024  A week dedicated to racing for cadets to really put into practice the things learnt during the year. Sign up via the Calendar.
