Job Description: Bar Supervisor

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Bar Supervisor to join our team at North Devon Yacht Club. This role is perfect for an experienced hospitality professional. You'll play a key part in raising our service standards while working as part of a strong, collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Create and manage staff rotas to ensure appropriate coverage
  • Assist in managing budgets for the bar and kitchen
  • Oversee bar inventory ordering and stock management
  • Monitor line cleaning schedules and cellar maintenance
  • Maintain quality standards for all beverages served

Event Support

  • Assist in planning and preparation for club events and functions
  • Support peak season operations, particularly during August school holidays
  • Adapt service levels based on member requirements and seasonal demand

Customer Service Excellence

  • Work to continuously improve service standards and customer experience
  • Foster a welcoming atmosphere
  • Maintain professional relationships

Team Collaboration

  • Work effectively as part of our established team structure
  • Support colleagues across bar and kitchen operations
  • Communicate effectively with management on operational matters
  • Contribute to positive team culture and knowledge sharing

Essential Requirements

Qualifications & Certifications

  • Food Hygiene Level 2 certification
  • Cellar/bar management experience
  • Cellar management qualification would be beneficial (BIIAB Cellar Management Certificate, Cask Marque etc)

Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience in hospitality environment, preferably licensed premises
  • Experience with line cleaning systems, keg changing, and gas systems
  • Knowledge of beer quality management and temperature control
  • Proven organizational skills for rota and stock management
  • Proven customer service and communication abilities
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends and evenings

Terms & Conditions

Hours: Minimum 20 hours per week with potential to increase based on club opening hours and seasonal demand. Summer months offer enhanced hours during peak sailing season.

Salary: Competitive rate commensurate with experience

Location: Waterfront position in Instow, North Devon

Start Date: 1/10/25 or before

Reporting: Reports to Club Management Team
