Parent Volunteers
We would love your help!
We would be really grateful for adult volunteers to lend a hand during the sailing sessions. Your support helps keep the sessions running smoothly. Help could be anything from rigging/de-rigging, launching the dinghies or joining in on the water or in the safety boats. Please fill in the following booking form to let us know what you are happy to help with, and what previous sailing experience you have.
We also need parent volunteers to help during Pelican Week, which is the Junior Race Week, 18-22 Aug. Any young sailors under 19 years, with at least RYA Stage 1 are able to take part. If you are able to help for at least one day during this time then please tick the relevant box and we will contact you to find out which day(s) you can help.
Note that we would like all would-be parent volunteers to do a short in-person induction (around 20-30 minutes) with an instructor before volunteering, so we can discuss how you can best help to support the sessions. We can arrange this with you.
If you're 16 or over and thinking about volunteering with us, the RYA Safe and Fun course is a great way to pick up useful information and feel more confident in your role. The course is designed for anyone working with children and vulnerable adults in an RYA setting, including volunteers and staff at recognised training centres and affiliated clubs. It's an online course that takes about 3 hours and it is full of helpful insights about safeguarding and child protection. There are various places where you can access the course online. Currently Wavelength Training are offering the course for £12 (See www.wavelengthtraining.co.uk)
Thank you!
