Women's Sailing Sessions at NDYC
We're excited to launch Womens Sailing Sessions at NDYC — run for women, by women. This initiative will evolve over time, but the main goal is simple: to help more women get out on the water.
While many already have access to weekend sailing, we know that some women have more flexibility during the week — especially when children are at school. To make the most of this, we're organising weekday sailing sessions for a small group of us, scheduled around school drop-off and pick-up times.
Because of tide constraints, these sessions will take place roughly fortnightly during term time, meeting 3 hours before high water (HW). The club will provide safety boat cover, and club boats may be hired — provided you're on the clubs approved helm list (RYA Level 3 standard or higher) - see ClubBoats for info. Booking and payment can be made online through the Women's Sailing event on the calendar. Not quite at RYA Level 3 yet? Let us know if you'd like to be (please follow the link at the bottom of the page) — with enough interest, we can ask the Club to organise taught courses.
If you have your own boat, you're very welcome to bring it along, as long as you're competent to recover it in the event of a capsize.
These are not formal training sessions — just relaxed sailing together, likely around a simple triangular course. We do ask that everyone sails within the same area, close to the safety boat.

Please join the Women's Sailing WhatsApp group for updates and coordination - join through the NDYC WhatsApp community. Let us know if you're planning to attend a session — and if you can't make it after all, please message to cancel. And, of course, try to be on time so we can all launch together!
Proposed Women's Taught Sailing Courses - Expression of Interest & Availability Form
We're exploring the idea of running women's taught sailing courses — these would be structured training sessions (for example, RYA Level 1 and Level 2 courses) led by instructors. These taught courses would be different from the regular Women's Sailing Sessions, which are unstructured social sailing opportunities. At this stage, nothing is confirmed — we're just finding out who's interested and when people might be available. If there's enough interest and we can find times that suit most people, we'll look at arranging courses with the club instructors. Please fill out the form below to let us know your availability and experience.
