Power Boat Level 1/2 Joining Instructions

The course is approximately 55% practical (on the water) and 45% theory (shore based).

You will need to wear waterproof clothes, boots, hat and a personal floatation device of at least 50N .  The club can provide a Buoyancy Aid if required.  Please be prepared for the temperature to drop on the water.  There is no requirement to wear a wetsuit or dry-suit, but you may wear one if you prefer. If it is likely to be hot and sunny please bring water and sun-cream.

The on-water training will take place in the estuary and river area over extended periods of time, and it is therefore important you bring sufficient clothing that is warm and waterproof. Multiple layers are advisable. We suggest you bring a change of clothes in case you get wet on the water.

Please note that the club have updated their policies, including parental supervision – see https://ndyc.org/club/policies. Please make sure you and your young sailor have read the policies before the course, filled in the Parental Consent (if 14 – 17yrs), and uploaded it to the qualifications section of your young sailor’s NDYC account.

Please make sure you have filled in contact details etc for your young sailor, and uploaded any RYA certificates to their qualifications section.
