CADET QUALIFICATION LEVELS

RYA Stage 1 – This course is for the beginner or novice sailor. No experience is necessary. Minimum age 10 years, must be able to swim.

RYA Stage 2 – This course expands and develops the basic skills acquired during the Stage I course. It is normal for all students enrolling on this course to hold Stage 1.

RYA Stage 3 – This course continues to develop the basic sailing techniques, so that the student is a competent sailor. It is normal for all students to hold Stage 2, and have practised sailing on a regular basis before taking this course.

RYA Stage 4 – This course further extends sailing techniques so that a student should be a competent sailor in moderate conditions. Students should hold a Stage 3 and have practised on a regular basis before attending this course.
