Seamanship Course

Course Details:

Dinghy Adult Level 1 /Level 2 –  This course sets out the foundations of sailing for you. By the end of it you’ll be a competent light wind sailor.  You will cover rigging, launching, sailing in all directions capsize recovery and essential safety knowledge.

Dinghy Adult Level 3 – This course will further consolidate the Level 1 and 2 skills and taster sessions from the advanced module.  It will make you more confident in sailing skills and techniques and ready to progress onto the advanced modules of Start Racing, Seamanship and Spinnaker courses.

Dinghy Start Racing – This is an introduction to racing and should give the student enough knowledge to take part in club racing confidently. To take part in this course the student must sail on a regular basis.

Dinghy Seamanship Skills – For this course you must be at Level 3 standard and have some sailing experience. This course further develops the students ability to sail in a variety of conditions. More advanced maneuvers are introduced as in launching and recovering in difficult conditions, reducing sail, etc.

Spinnaker Course – For this course you must be at Level 2/3 standard. It will cover how to rig the boat for Spinnaker sailing. How to gybe downwind with a Spinnaker and how to recover from gybe errors.
