Power Boat Level 2 Course

This 3 day course is aimed at novices, intermediates and those less experienced.

RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate is recognised world-wide.  If completed after 15th April 2019, the completion certificate forms proof of the basis of competence for the RYA to award an ICC for coastal waters qualification.  This facilitates being able to rent or use motor boats of up to 10 Metres overall length abroad.

It is often the minimum qualification sought for powerboat helm roles such as RYA Instructors, waterski drivers and is also required before starting a wide range of other Instructor courses.

Overview: You will learn how to handle the boat at slow and planing speeds, as well as basic powerboat handling manoeuvres. The course will predominantly use one of our centre console RIBs, however where time and equipment allows may get an experience in our club dory and/or our Plymouth Pilot which is a tiller driven displacement boat.

Previous Experience: None required

Age Range: 16 +

Bespoke Variations: We are able to provide power boat training to satisfy certain bespoke needs.  These need to be discussed with the Chief Instructor who will address such requests on an individual basis.  Please contact the secretary via the office to discuss requests.

(We are currently considering the age may be lowered to 14 and over. Please note – those under 16 years will be issued with an endorsement on their certificate.)
